The Research Training Network (RTN) provides an opportunity for students enrolled in an Australian university, undertaking a PhD in the ICT field, to access advanced research coursework units of study.
These are being offered through NICTA, often in partnership with a university or a laboratory. These advanced coursework units are intended to cover both depth and breadth in content, research methods and professional skills.
NICTA is currently finalising its 2010 Advanced ICT Modules Program.
The modules will be state of the art, topical and relevant in 2008 NICTA launched its inaugural Advanced ICT Modules Program. Six exciting courses were offered as "modules" in block mode, typically three days intensive delivery, with appropriate assessment schemes.
The modules will be state of the art, topical and relevant to ICT research. All presenters are leading researchers in their fields.
Students may choose to take a module out of interest or to develop professional competence in an area of specialisation. Alternatively, students may enrol in a module to have it counted towards the coursework requirements of their PhD, if applicable. Approval has been obtained for students enrolled in one of NICTA's seven member or partner universities to take any of these modules for academic credit.
Students enrolled in other universities should seek the advice of their relevant Head of School or Student Administrator in regards to advanced standing/credit conversion.
