Welcome Message from the Convenor of the Big Picture Seminar Series - QRL SeminarsOn behalf of National ICT Australia, I am pleased to announce that the Big Picture Seminar Series has been successfully launched at our Queensland Research Laboratory. Welcome to our seminar website. Our 2009 Series was marked by two successful presentations held by Everyware author Mr Adam Greenfield and Senator Kate Lundy. We recently started off our 2010 Series: Mr Malcolm Crompton, President of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Australia and New Zealand, delivered an impressive presentation on the topic ‘Privacy by Design’. We would like to thank all attendees for their encouraging feedback. I am very pleased to announce that we have decided to host an extraordinary seminar with Mr Richard Stallman on the 23rd of September in the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. Richard Stallman is world-renowned for launching the development of the GNU operating system. The GNU/Linux system is used on tens of millions of computers today. This special event will be jointly hosted with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and in conjunction with the World Computer Congress in Brisbane. Due to the popularity of the event, we would like to encourage you to secure your seat by sending us your RSVP at your earliest convenience. Our final seminar in 2010 will be presented by Dr Chris Nicol on 27 October 2010 in ‘The Edge’ at Southbank. Dr Nicol has extensive experience in designing 3G mobile wireless integrated circuits. Prior to joining NICTA as Chief Technology Officer in 2006, he has held positions at Agere Systems and AT&T. Please kindly note that at this stage, the Speakers and dates for our 2010 Seminar Series are tentative and may be subject to change. As always, I would like to encourage you to regularly check this site for updated information. If you wish to be informed about future seminars, please feel free to join our seminar email list.
