Dr Boreli joined NICTA’s Networked Systems Theme in 2004. In 2004, she was also appointed to the visiting position of conjoint Associate Professor with School of EE&T, University of NSW. She has a broad technical expertise in satellite and wireless communication systems and IP networks and an extensive industry experience. Her previous positions included Technology Strategy Manager with Xantic BV, a JV of Telcos Telstra and KPN between 2001-2004, positions with Telstra’s Global Satellite 1996-2001 and the Technology Development Group (R&D group) at OTC 1991-96. Roksana has represented Telstra at the Mobile satelle company Inmarsat Technical committee ACTOM and participated in the specifications development for future satellite services.
My current research interests include trust and privacy in ad-hoc networks, transport protocols for wireless communications, including multi-path and cross-layer tecniques. Previous research interests included mobility protocols, satellite and radio communication networks, multicast and, early in my career, error correction coding.
Trusted Networking project is developing new technology to enable mobile devices to wirelessly connect using trusted, short-lived connections to other mobile devices. These “ephemeral” networks will complement traditional communications infrastructure to deliver content and mobile services.
Maritime mesh with satellite communications project builds on the results of previous NICTA projects and Institute for Infocomm Research’s High Speed Maritime Mesh platform to deliver efficient delay tolerant communications for shipping and other maritime users.
Office in a Box researches voice and data compression technologies with the aim of increasing the efficiency and reducing the cost of remote communications solutions. The project has resulted in a satellite router product being commercialised within the spin-off company 7-ip.
Ambient Networks is an integrated project co-sponsored by the European Commission under the Information Society Technology (IST) priority within the 6th Framework Programme (FP6). The AN project will create network solutions for mobile and wireless systems beyond 3G.
