Privacy and Trust

In an environment where there is a large amount of information available and plethora of services on offer, it will be necessary to get personal information from users to provide the access to the information and services they require. In addition, this information could be used to optimise the operation of the system. The required information is likely to be collected by different entities, at different times, and at different locations.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop methods of preserving the privacy of user’s information that will be gathered and also users to trust the systems that collect this information and provide them with information. The challenge is to design mechanisms that can build on the existing formal notions of privacy, trust and security, to provide the users with levels that guarantee privacy of their data and integrity of the systems they interact with.
