Sign Geo-positioning Service (Overview and Samples)

Video surveys of streetscapes or urban scenes are a common method for capturing data on the location of signs or other objects of business interest.  Capturing video data is easy, transforming it into useful business information is difficult.  AutoMap Analysis addresses this problem with its automated service which can easily and reliably identify and geo-position signs or other objects of interest from your survey video data. See the Overview and Samples of the service or review the Sign Geo-positioning Service Brochure

The Sign Geo-positioning Services is capable of recognising most signs of uniform shape within the video scene.  See our Recognisable Signs Fact Sheet for an overview of the Signs and other objects the service is capable of recognising.

Source Data Scoping Report

There are no conventions on the way digital video is captured for scene survey purposes and each customer’s combination of camera placement, technical configuration and video formats is unique and must be assessed for technical suitability. As a guide however, data which meets the following techncal characteristics has in our experiene been suitable for processing.

  • Video Resolution: 640 x 480 pixels or greater
  • Frame Rate: 1 frame per 10 m or greater
  • GPS Resolution: 1 sample per second or greater

Before we can provide you with an accurate assessment of the suitability of your video footage for processing and Quote for processing services, we must perform a detailed technical examination of a representative sample of digital video to determine its technical suitability.

The scoping report identifies important technical characteristics of your captured video sample and identifies whether it meets the minimum technical requirements to be processed.

The report determines whether the video sample is Suitable or Not Suitable for automated processing.  The technical results of the scoping report and suitability outcome will be used to provide a Quotation for processing services.

A sample of 4-8 GB of video data on 1-2 DVD Disks is required in order to undertake an effective scoping report.

See our Scoping Report Fact Sheet for more details or review a Sample Scoping Report.
